We need a Secession Clarity Act

The confusion that has surounded Brexit since 2016 is a symptom of the way in which the referendum was conducted. If the separatists had got their way in the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum then the same problem would have existed (although likely even worse).

Unless the people proposing a referendum are forced to make the details of their intentions very clear up front, there is a real danger that voters do not know what exacty it is that they’re voting for. Both sides will make great claims about their intentions for the future, usually based simply on what they want to happen, rather than any level of detailed planning.

To avoid the turmoil that has existed, and indeed still exists, around Brexit, the Scottish seperatists need to be compelled to explain EXACTLY what their plan is, how they will proceed if they win and what precisely will be the outcomes: good and bad!

Canadians understood this when the Quebec separatists tried to come back for a second independence referendum and it allowed voters to see beyond the smoke and mirrors. (Source: Many articles on the Canadian Clarity Act including: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarity_Act.)
